How does the horse react to the activation of EQUIAIRBAG® ?
No particularly horse reaction were detected during the EQUIAIRBAG® activations. The test were carried out both in closed and open environments near different kind of horses.
If the horse rider dismounts the horse without first unhooking the activation cable ?
Only during the first uses it may happen to dismount from a horse with the cable still connect . In this case EQUIAIRBAG® is activated, but it is possible to recharge it immediately because no impact occur.
Can EQUIAIRBAG® be used again after an activation?
If EQUIAIRBAG® is activated without an impact, it can be regenerated with a very easy operation. This operation can be made by the rider or by an authorizated dealer.
If EQUIAIRBAG® is activated with an impact (with a suspected damage of the functional part), it’s necessary to take it to be inspected.
Where is it connected ?
The activation cable has to be clip on the ring in the front part of the saddle on the right (each saddle has front rings). Pay attention that the ring is well fixed to the saddle.
Is the rider bound to the horse by the activation cable ?
Absolutely no. The cable measures only the distance between the rider and the horse. The rider is always free to get down from horse even if the cable still hooked.
Does the use of EQUIAIRBAG® reduce the rider movements?
No. The length of the activation cable allows the typical movements: pace, trot and gallop (also jump obstacles, cross, etc). Besides the activation cable is coiled up in order to be always tight.
Why should the internal shoulder straps and the internal belt must be fastened?
The internal shoulder straps and the internal belt are directly fixed on to the bag and in case of impact they make sure the bag positioning is correct, even if the EQUIAIRBAG® is not properly fastened (for example in summer).
Is the rider impeded in his movements, when EQUIAIRBAG® is inflated,?
No. The shoulder straps and belt system and the characteristics of the finished garment has controlled force elastic parts which extend during the activation in order to permit the rider to move commonly (to move freely, to go on riding, to mount or to get down from horse, to get up) for example to run away from an eventually dangerous zone.
How long does EQUIAIRBAG® remain in the inflated condition ?
The bag remains inflated for more than one minute.
If the gas generator is hit during an impact, is there a possibility that it may hit the rider’s back?
No. The gas generator is mounted on the external part of the bag. When the bag is inflated, the gas generator is no longer in contact with the rider ’s back. Even if he/she could be hit, the inflated bag interpose between the gas generator and the riders’s back, softening the impact.
Can the activation cable be hooked to any point of the saddle?
No. The snap hook of the activation cable must be clipped only to the ring in the front part of the saddle on the right.
May another item of clothing or rucksack be worn on EQUIAIRBAG® ?
No. When EQUIAIRBAG® activates itself, the back zones that host the folded bag expand and the correct opening and inflating of the bag must not be obstructed. So EQUIAIRBAG® must to be worn independently, without a rucksack, or other similar clothing.
Why is it protecting only the spinal cord and it has not been designed to protect the anterior part of the body also?
EQUIAIRBAG® was designed to be a back protector. Researched data shows the spinal cord is still the body part whose wound may produce serous injury, sometimes permanent.
What does EQUIAIRBAG® weigh?
The whole EQUIAIRBAG® waistcoat weighs 1400 g.
Has the gas cartridge a date of expiry?
No. In normal conditions, the gas cartridge has not a date of expiry. If the gas cartridge is utilizated during an activation, it must be replaced. The used gas cartridge it’s not rechargeable and it has to be removed.
